Deadline approaching: Journalism grants for innovations EU

Media professionals and innovators from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom can apply for a grant.
The European Journalism Centre and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will fund 25 to 30 projects under the Innovation in Development Reporting Grant Program (IDR). The grant program aims to advance creative reporting approaches to issues associated with global development and the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goal.
The grants will provide a selection of innovative reporting projects with the necessary funds to enable journalists, editors and development stakeholders to perform thorough research and to develop entirely new and experimental reporting and presentation methods.
Funding will cover direct expenses for journalistic research and study trips, possible technical costs for crews and equipment, data acquisition and analysis and visualization. Interested parties may apply for full or partial grants, excluding, however, salaries of permanent staff.
Journalists and media outlets not based in the countries mentioned above, as well as freelancers, are only eligible to apply as cooperation partners of admissible organizations.
The deadline is March 25.
